Tracking domain not verifying? Press Retry
If your tracking domain is stuck on Pending or Failed and the script won't load – especially when you added the DNS record a few days after creating the domain – open Settings → Tracking and press Retry to re-trigger the check.
You created your tracking domain (and maybe already added the snippet to your site), but tracking still isn't working – the script doesn't load and nothing shows up in your reports. The most common reason is that the domain hasn't finished verifying yet. The fix is usually a single click: open the dashboard, check the domain's status, and press Retry.
In short
Open Settings → Tracking. If your domain isn't Ready to use, press the Retry button to re-trigger the check. This is especially important if you added the DNS record days after you created the domain in LeadJourney.
Why the status matters
Your tracking script loads from your tracking domain – the snippet points at
https://track.yourdomain.com/…. Until that domain is verified, there's nothing for the
browser to load, so no page views, clicks or leads get recorded. In Settings → Tracking
each domain shows one of three states:
- Pending – LeadJourney is still waiting to see your DNS record.
- Ready to use – the domain is verified and your script can load. This is the only state in which tracking works.
- Failed – the check ran but couldn't confirm a correct record.
The most common cause: you added the DNS record later
When you create a domain in LeadJourney, it starts checking your DNS automatically and flips to Ready to use within minutes of the CNAME going live. But that automatic re-checking doesn't run forever.
Added the CNAME days after creating the domain?
If you created the domain in LeadJourney first and only added the CNAME at your DNS provider several days later, the automatic check may have already stopped. The domain then sits on Pending or Failed even though your DNS is now perfectly correct. Pressing Retry re-triggers the check manually – and it goes through.
Re-trigger the verification
Open the tracking settings
Go to Settings → Tracking and find the domain in question.
Check its status
If it already shows Ready to use, the domain is fine and your issue is elsewhere – see No click data showing?. If it shows Pending or Failed, continue below.
Double-check the CNAME (only if it keeps failing)
Before retrying, make sure the DNS record is actually correct at your provider:
- The record type is CNAME (not A) and points to
package.leadjourney.iowith no trailing slash. - The host is exactly your subdomain (e.g.
track). - On Cloudflare, the record is set to DNS only (grey cloud) – the orange-cloud proxy breaks it.

Press Retry
Click the Retry button next to the domain. LeadJourney runs the verification again. If your DNS record is live and correct, the status switches to Ready to use.
Give it a moment
DNS usually resolves within minutes, but a brand-new record can take longer to propagate – in rare cases up to 48 hours, depending on your provider and the record's TTL. If Retry doesn't flip it straight away, wait a little and try once more.
Still not Ready to use after pressing Retry?
Then the DNS record almost certainly isn't live or correct yet. Re-check the CNAME exactly as above (type, host, target, and DNS only on Cloudflare), wait for it to propagate, and press Retry again. If the record is confirmed correct and live but the domain still won't verify, reach out to support with your tracking domain and a screenshot of your Settings → Tracking status so we can pinpoint it fast.
