LeadJourney for Affiliates
The complete setup for affiliate marketers – drive paid or organic traffic to offers you don't own, match every click to the commission the network pays back, and see true ROI per campaign, offer and network.
You drive paid (or organic) traffic to offers you don't own, and an affiliate network pays you a commission when a sale happens. This is the end-to-end playbook for affiliate marketers: LeadJourney ties the whole chain together – the click you paid for, the redirect to the offer, and the commission the network sends back – so you see true ROI per campaign, offer and network, not just clicks out.
What you'll be able to see
For every campaign → offer → network: clicks, cost, conversions, commission revenue, ROAS, ROI and profit – so you know which campaign, offer and network actually make money and which traffic source to scale.
Why affiliate tracking is a little different
On your own site you'd drop a tracking script on your pages. As an affiliate you usually can't add a script to the merchant's offer page, so two pieces do the heavy lifting instead: a redirect link that stamps each click with an ID, and a network postback that reports the commission back to LeadJourney. The setup below wires up both.
The chain you're building
Ad click → redirect link (stamps a click ID) → offer page → sale → network postback → matched back to your click.
The lj_click_id carried through the redirect is the key: it's what lets a commission postback land
back on the exact click you paid for. If you want the concept first, read
How attribution works.

This playbook is the overview. The Affiliate setup guide is the complete walkthrough – every screen, in order, from a fresh workspace to reading ROI.
What you'll set up
| Step | Covers | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Ad platforms | Meta, Google, LinkedIn, Bing | Syncs your spend – the cost half of ROI. |
| 2. Tracking domain | First-party redirect domain | Your redirect links run here; keeps clicks accurate. |
| 3. Networks | Who pays you | Maps the network's postback to LeadJourney fields. |
| 4. Offers | The products you promote | Holds the affiliate link and default commission. |
| 5. Postback | Commissions coming back | One workspace postback the networks send to. |
| 6. Campaigns & links | The links you advertise | Generates the click-tracked redirect URLs. |
Connect your ad platforms
Connect the accounts you spend on so cost data syncs automatically – that's the "spend" half of your ROI. Native, email or solo-ad spend won't sync, so add that manually under Channel Costs.
Connect your ad platforms
OAuth into Meta, Google, LinkedIn and Bing so spend syncs automatically.
Set up a tracking domain
Add a first-party tracking domain – a CNAME on a subdomain like go.your-site.com. Your redirect
links run on this domain, which makes click tracking accurate and resilient. Only verified domains
can be used by your campaigns.
Set up a custom tracking domain
The verified first-party domain your redirect links run on.
Add your affiliate networks
A network is whoever pays you – Clickbank, CJ, Impact.com, Digistore24 or a custom one. Adding it tells LeadJourney how to read that network's postback: which value is the click ID, which is the revenue, and so on. Start from a ready-made template or build a custom one.
Affiliate Networks
Add who pays you and map their postback macros to LeadJourney fields.
Add the offers you promote
An offer is one product you push. Paste the affiliate link the network gave you (LeadJourney appends its tracking parameters automatically), set a default commission revenue, and optionally link it to a network so postbacks fire through that network's URL.
Affiliate Offers
The products you promote, each with its affiliate link and commission revenue.
Wire up the postback so commissions come back
The postback URL is how a network tells LeadJourney a sale happened and how much you earned. It's
configured once for the whole workspace under Settings → Events – paste it into your network's
account-level postback field and append the macros you mapped on the network. The lj_click_id is
what matches a commission back to the exact click you paid for.

Create campaigns & grab your tracking links
A campaign is the link you actually advertise. LeadJourney generates a short redirect URL per traffic channel – with the right platform macros baked in – that stamps a click ID and forwards the visitor to your offer. Pick Redirect Tracking when you can't add a script, choose your verified domain, and optionally split-test landing pages by weight.
Affiliate Campaigns
Generate the click-tracked redirect URLs you advertise, one per channel.
Running your own pre-lander?
If you send traffic through a page you control first, you can also install the tracking script there and capture extra events (opt-ins, form fills). For organic or email links, tag them with the UTM Builder.
See your ROI
Each Affiliate tab is itself a report you can expand by traffic channel, and the same data flows into the main reports:
- Affiliate Networks, Offers and Campaigns – clicks, conversions, commission revenue and ROAS per network, offer and campaign.
- Campaign Report – has an affiliate-only toggle to drill into affiliate performance.
- Report Builder – slice ROI by affiliate campaign, offer and network and pin the views you watch to a Dashboard.
Read the four building blocks together
Networks, offers, campaigns and landing pages all interlock. For how they fit together at a glance, see Affiliate tracking.
Tips for clean affiliate data
- Verify before you scale. Run a test click through a campaign link, confirm it lands on the offer, then fire a test postback and check the commission shows up before you spend real budget.
- Set a default commission. If a network's postback doesn't carry a revenue value, the offer's Default WonClient Revenue is used – set it so payouts are never recorded as zero.
- Use the hidden-referrer redirect when needed. If a network blocks ad-platform traffic, choose the 303 Redirect (Hidden Referrer) mode on the campaign.
- Map postback macros carefully. The click ID and revenue mappings on the network are what make attribution work – a wrong macro means commissions can't be matched back.
