Custom Metrics

Build your own calculated columns from a formula over LeadJourney's existing metrics – cost per booked call, lead-to-call rate, net profit, anything. Learn how to create a custom metric in the column settings and add it to your reports.

LeadJourney ships with dozens of metrics out of the box – cost, leads, CPL, ROAS, profit and more. Custom metrics let you build the ones that are specific to your business: a calculated column defined by a formula over the metrics you already have, like Cost ÷ Booked Calls or Revenue − Cost.

Once created, a custom metric behaves like any other column – pick it in your report's column settings, drag it into place, and it's calculated live alongside everything else.

In short

A custom metric = a name + format + formula. You build the formula by clicking your existing metrics (each inserts a {token}) and the operator buttons (+ − × / ( )). It's created right inside the Choose report columns panel and lives at the workspace level, so it's available across your reports.

Why custom metrics matter

The built-in metrics cover the universal KPIs, but every team measures something of its own:

  • A KPI we don't ship. Cost per booked call, cost per qualified lead, lead-to-call rate, show-up rate – ratios built from your events.
  • Your own profit math. Combine revenue, cost and any conversion value into the exact margin or net figure your team reviews.
  • One number to scan. Instead of eyeballing two columns and dividing in your head, put the result in its own column and sort by it.

Where to find it

Custom metrics are created from the column settings of any report. Open a report – for example the Campaign Report or Traffic Channel Report – and open its column settings (the Choose report columns panel). At the top of the metric list is a Create button.

In that panel the categories down the left include a Custom Metrics category, where every metric you build is collected.

Create a custom metric

Open the column settings

In any report, open Choose report columns, then click Create at the top of the metric list. The Create Custom Metric form opens.

Name it and choose a format

Give the metric a Metric name (e.g. Cost per Booked Call) and pick a Metric format:

FormatShows asUse it for
Numeric123Counts, scores, plain ratios.
Percentage%Rates – conversion, show-up.
Currency$Money – cost, revenue, profit.

Currency uses your workspace currency. Add an optional Description – it appears as a tooltip on the metric so your team knows what it measures.

Build the formula

In Metric formula, click the metric chips below the field to insert them – each one drops a {token} into the formula – and use the operator buttons (+, , ×, /, (, )) between them. Use the search box to filter the metric list.

For example, the in-app placeholder is {impressions} + {conversions}. A few practical ones:

Custom metricFormula (by metric)Format
Cost per Booked CallCost ÷ Booked CallsCurrency
Lead → Call rateBooked Calls ÷ LeadsPercentage
Net profitRevenueCostCurrency

Click to insert – don't memorise keys

You don't type metric names by hand. Click a chip and LeadJourney inserts the correct token for you. Wrap parts in parentheses to control the order of operations, e.g. ( {revenue} − {cost} ) / {leads}.

Create the metric

Click Create Metric. LeadJourney saves it and jumps you to the Custom Metrics category, where your new metric appears with a Custom badge.

Add it to the report and apply

Tick the metric to add it as a column, drag it into the order you want in the selected columns panel (you can rename the column inline there too), then click Apply. It's now calculated live in the report.

Save it as a preset

Your column choices – including custom metrics – can be saved as a reusable preset from the same panel, so you can apply the same view in one click later. Built-in presets (Default View, Lead Focused) can't be overwritten; use Create new to save your own.

Good to know

  • Formulas use standard metrics only. You can't reference another custom metric or a tag column inside a formula – build from the built-in metrics (General, Lead Generation, Revenue, Profit, Offline Conversions, …).
  • Workspace-level. A custom metric you create is available across your reports, not just the one you built it in. Use column presets to decide where it shows.
  • Cost-based formulas need cost data. Anything using Cost (or CPL, ROI, profit) is only accurate when LeadJourney knows your spend. Paid ad spend syncs automatically; add the rest under Channel Costs.
  • Delete anytime. Each custom metric has a trash icon in the Custom Metrics category. Deleting removes the column from your reports.
