Connect WebinarGeek
Connect WebinarGeek with your account API key and one signed webhook, then map registrations, live and replay viewers, no-shows and webinar payments straight onto your conversions.
Connecting WebinarGeek turns webinar activity, such as registrations, live and replay viewers, no-shows and webinar payments, into LeadJourney conversions, attributed to the campaign, ad set and ad that filled the seat. WebinarGeek has no OAuth, so the connection works with your account API key plus one account-wide webhook that you add in WebinarGeek. After that you map each WebinarGeek event onto one of your conversion types. Mapped events flow through the same postback pipeline as your offline conversions, so they pick up every ad postback you've already configured.
Before you start
Have these ready so the connection works end to end:
- An active LeadJourney workspace and admin access to your WebinarGeek account (only account admins can see the API key).
- Tracking is live, so registrations can be matched back to a click. See Install the tracking script.
- At least one conversion type to map onto (e.g.
WebinarRegistration). Set these up first in the Events Manager.
Where to find it
Open Settings → Apps, or go to app.leadjourney.io/settings?slug=apps. Click the WebinarGeek card to open the integration. While you're not connected you'll see a “Connect your WebinarGeek account” card; once connected, the same screen shows the webhook URL, the signing secret, the connection details and your triggers.
Step by step
Copy your WebinarGeek API key
Log in to WebinarGeek as an account admin and open Account settings → Advanced →
API (app.webinargeek.com/admin/integrations/api). Copy the API key shown there. The
Where do I find my API key? guide on the connect card lists the same steps.
Paste the key and connect
On the Connect your WebinarGeek account card, paste the key into WebinarGeek API Key and click Connect.
LeadJourney validates the key against your WebinarGeek account. The key is stored encrypted and is only used to read webinar and registration data for the mapping screen. When it works you'll see a “WebinarGeek connected” confirmation.
Only new data is synced
LeadJourney syncs new WebinarGeek registrations from the moment you connect. Registrations from before the connection are not imported.
Add the webhook in WebinarGeek
Once connected, LeadJourney generates a Webhook URL and a Signing secret for your workspace. Both have a Copy button. In WebinarGeek:
- Go to Account → Integrations → Webhooks and add a webhook.
- Give it a label, e.g. LeadJourney.
- Paste the Webhook URL.
- Paste the Signing secret into the webhook's optional Secret field. WebinarGeek then signs every delivery and LeadJourney verifies it, so nobody else can post to your URL.
- Tick the WebinarGeek triggers that match the events you set up in LeadJourney (next steps).
WebinarGeek webhooks are account-wide, so this one webhook covers every webinar in the account. If you add a LeadJourney trigger for another event later, remember to tick that event on the webhook too.
Check the connection details
The header shows a Live pill (or Needs reconnect if something breaks), plus Connection, Account, Active triggers and Connected since. The Update API key and Disconnect buttons live in the same header.
Add a trigger
In the Triggers panel (“Each trigger maps a WebinarGeek event to one of your conversions.”), click Add trigger. In the New WebinarGeek trigger dialog:
- App: WebinarGeek (already selected).
- LeadJourney Event: pick the conversion type this event should record. (Seeing “No conversion types yet”? Create one under Settings → Events first.)
- Trigger: pick the WebinarGeek event from the grid, for example a registration, a live or replay viewer, a no-show or a payment. Use Search triggers… to filter the list.
Click Continue.
Load data, map fields and filter
The dialog opens three tabs:
- Receive Data: click Find latest data. LeadJourney loads your latest WebinarGeek
registrations, in the same shape the webhook delivers, so you can pick one and map straight
against it. If the account has no registrations yet you'll see your webinars instead; in
that case type the field names on the next tab (
email, firstname, surname, phone). - Configure Mapping: fill each LeadJourney column from a WebinarGeek field. The default
rows are Email, Name, Phone, click_id, Revenue and Currency.
WebinarGeek has no combined name field, so Name is filled from
firstnameandsurnametogether. On payment records, Revenue and Currency are pre-filled from the payment when present. Pick one or more fields per row (several are joined with a space), type a path and press Enter, or usestatic:valuefor a fixed value. Add custom field adds First name, Last name or any workspace field, or creates a new one. - Filtering (optional): click Add filter and set Path, Operator and Value so the trigger only fires for matching records, for example for one webinar only.
Click Save & Continue on the last tab. At least one field has to be mapped. Save and continue later saves the trigger as it is. New triggers start Active.
How WebinarGeek registrations link to the right campaign
Every event needs at least one identifier: a click ID, an email or a phone. Registrants
always give an email, so map Email on every trigger and LeadJourney can match the
registration to the visitor who clicked. WebinarGeek has no dedicated click ID field. If you
capture the click ID, it lives either in external_id (set when a registration is created
through the WebinarGeek API; LeadJourney pre-fills click_id from it when it's set) or in a custom
registration question, which shows up under extra_fields. Point the click_id row at
whichever one you use.
Managing your triggers
Each trigger appears as a row, WebinarGeek event → conversion type, with an Active / Paused pill and a line such as “4 field(s) mapped · 1 filter(s)”.
- Pause / Resume: use the toggle to stop a trigger without deleting it.
- Edit: change the event, mapping, filters or target conversion.
- Delete: type
deleteto confirm. The mapping and filters of that trigger can't be recovered; other triggers keep running. - Add another: use Add trigger again, for example separate conversions for registrations, live viewers and no-shows. Tick each new event on the WebinarGeek webhook.
Reconnecting
LeadJourney checks the connection whenever you open the integration. If WebinarGeek rejects the key (“WebinarGeek rejected your API key”, usually because it was rotated or revoked) or the API doesn't respond (“WebinarGeek is unreachable”), the header flips to Needs reconnect and a banner explains why. Click Reconnect (or Update API key) and paste a fresh key. Your triggers and settings are kept.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect in the header. In the Disconnect WebinarGeek? dialog, type
disconnect and confirm with Disconnect WebinarGeek.
Disconnect deletes your triggers
Disconnecting permanently removes the connection, deletes every trigger and drops the stored API key. WebinarGeek events stop flowing into your conversions immediately. You can reconnect later, but your trigger configuration won't be restored. You can also delete the LeadJourney webhook under Account → Integrations → Webhooks in WebinarGeek.
Troubleshooting
Only webinars (or nothing) show up in “Receive Data”?
Webinars mean the key works but the account has no registrations to read back yet: type the field names on Configure Mapping, or register a test attendee and click Find latest data again. If nothing shows at all, check that the API key is still valid in WebinarGeek.
No conversions arrive?
Check that (1) the webhook in WebinarGeek uses the current Webhook URL and Signing secret, (2) the matching trigger is ticked on that webhook, (3) the LeadJourney trigger is Active, and (4) any filters match the incoming records.
Conversions arrive but aren't attributed to a campaign?
Make sure the tracking script is installed on the pages visitors see before they register, and that Email (and, if you capture it, click_id) is mapped on the trigger.
