Connect Google Ads
Connect Google Ads as a traffic channel, link your ad accounts so LeadJourney can send offline conversions back, and tag your campaigns so every lead is attributed.
Connecting Google Ads lets LeadJourney pull in your Google campaign and cost data and send offline conversions back to Google – so every lead is attributed to the right campaign, ad group, ad and keyword.
Before you start
You'll need an active LeadJourney workspace and admin access to the Google Ads account you want to track (the Google login you use must be able to manage that account). If your accounts sit under a Manager (MCC) account, log in with the Google user that has access to it.
Where to find it
In LeadJourney, open Settings → Traffic Channels and find the Google Ads card (it's marked as a Paid Ad channel). Click Connect to open the “Connect Google Ads” dialog.
The dialog walks you through three steps: connect your Google account, link your ad accounts, and add the tracking parameters to your campaigns.
Step by step
Connect your Google account via OAuth
Under Step 1, click Connect Google Account. You'll be taken to Google – sign in and accept the permissions LeadJourney requests so it can read your ad accounts and send conversions back.
When you return, the button changes to “Successfully connected”, and you'll also see Refresh Token and Logout options for later.
Connect your ad account(s)
Under Step 2, the ad accounts you can access load into the All Connected Accounts table, showing each account's status, ID, name, type, added date and currency. Switch on each ad account you want LeadJourney to track – its status flips to Active.
Manager (MCC) accounts
If you log in with a manager account, it appears as a parent row you can expand to reveal the individual ad accounts beneath it. Activate the child accounts that actually run your campaigns, not the manager account itself. Use the search box to find an account by name or ID in a long list.
Linking the account is what lets LeadJourney import its cost data and send offline conversions back to Google – there are no pixels or access tokens to map, unlike Meta.
Add LeadJourney's tracking parameters to your campaigns
Under Step 3 – Add Tracking Parameter, copy LeadJourney's parameter string and add it to your Google Ads campaigns:
lj_channel=google_ads&lj_c_id={campaignid}&lj_as_id={adgroupid}&lj_ad_id={creative}&lj_keyword_id={targetId}&lj_keyword={keyword}&lj_placement={placement}In Google Ads, paste it into the Final URL suffix field. Set it once at the account level (Settings → Account settings → Tracking → Final URL suffix) so it applies everywhere, or add it per campaign if you only want to track specific ones.
The values in curly braces – {campaignid}, {adgroupid}, {creative}, {targetId},
{keyword} and {placement} – are Google's ValueTrack parameters. Google fills them in
automatically on every click, so LeadJourney knows exactly which campaign, ad group, ad and
keyword drove each visit. Paste the string exactly as shown.
Click Complete connection to finish.
Use Final URL suffix, not the tracking template
Paste the parameters into the Final URL suffix field. Google appends a final URL suffix to your landing page URL, so the values reach LeadJourney's tracking script. The tracking template field is for redirect-based click trackers and won't pass these parameters to your page.
Keeping the connection healthy
- Data stopped updating? Open the channel again and click Refresh Token.
- Disconnect Google anytime with Logout in Step 1.
Troubleshooting
No campaigns or conversions showing up?
Check that (1) the right ad account is switched on (status Active) in Step 2, (2) you're connected with a Google user that has access to that account, and (3) the tracking parameters are actually set on your live Google Ads campaigns – via the Final URL suffix at the account or campaign level.
